Whether you choose to holiday at home in the UK or across the channel in France, you should seriously consider a Rivera holiday. On the south coast of France you have the French Rivera made up of Monaco, Nice, Cannes, St Tropez and Toulon, just to name a few. In the UK on the south west coast of England you have the English Rivera which is made up of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
We recently looked some great French Campsites, Kon Tiki Riviera Village, Cote d’Azur is on the French Rivera and makes a wonderful base to explore this region. Many people will recognise this region due to the events which take place here each year, including Cannes Film Festival, Toulon Tall Ships Race and the F1 Monaco Grand Prix.
The French Rivera is also known as the Cote d’Azur or turquoise coast, sat against the warm Mediterranean sea which makes it a great place to visit from spring to autumn, with pleasant temperatures in the off season. Since the 18th Century the little fishing villages have grown into glamourous tourist destinations, you don’t go far without seeing yachts docked in the harbour or cruising the coastline.
The south coast of Devon is a wonderful place for a break away and there are many great places to stay, from quaint holiday cottages to wonderful campsites, perfect for families. Although not as famous as its French counterpart, the English Rivera has many wonderful qualities, each year you can enjoy events such as Torbay Royal Regatta and Dubs on the Beach, as well as the Torbay Air Show.
