The city of Bristol is one of England’s most historic maritime centers and is a popular destination with travelers. One of the best ways to explore it is from a local campground as it allows you to enjoy both the city life as well as the beautiful local countryside. If you’re interested in camping in the area, you may want to try the Brook Lodge Farm Camping and Caravan Park.
The site is located in the historic and charming hamlet of Cowslip Green, which is the home of the famous writer Hannah More, and dates all the way back to the 1730´s. Also, the writer, statesman, and philosopher John Locke was also born in the region. Locke went on to write a great deal of the American Constitution.

There are four splendid acres of grassland at the park with a stream winding its way through it. Shade is provided by mature native trees and there is a wide range of wildlife and flowers in the area. Brook Lodge is forever trying to find new ways to help improve the park’s environment as well as protects its flora and fauna. You’ll find a wildlife corridor on location as well as a new tree and pond conservation area, solar water heating, and a recycling point.
As well as being located near to Bristol, it’s also pretty close to Wells, Bath, the Mendip Hills, and Glastonbury, making it an ideal base if you’d like to visit these splendid sites. If you’d like to try your hand at trout fishing and perhaps catch your own supper, you can head over to Blagdon Lake, which is just a two-mile hike or bike away from the park. Along the way, you’ll be able to enjoy some excellent bird watching opportunities as well as pass through some wonderful country lanes.
As for the camping, Brook Lodge Farm has a total of 29 tent and touring pitches which all come with an electric hook up. There is a newly renovated toilet and shower block with hot water. You’ll find both a chemical waste disposal point as well as one for recycling. There’s a covered seating area and garden area where you can relax and enjoy the world as it spins around. You’ll also find a fridge, freezer, microwave oven, ironing facilities, a public telephone, a washing machine, and play areas for children.
The campground is ideal for tent, caravan, and motor home camping and your pet dog is also welcome to join you. Group camping is also allowed. If you’d like to explore the local area by bike, you can rent one here. There’s also a nearby golf course and horseback and pony rides are available nearby. Free Wi-Fi is also available if you decide to take along your laptop or other type of mobile device.
In the local area, you’ll find shops, pubs, a chemist, post office, a sports centre, butcher shop, hairdressers, and restaurants. You can visit all of these in the nearby villages that can easily be walked to. If you’d like some more exercise, there are plenty of bike routes to follow. There’s also a 12-acre nature conservation area you can explore which sits next to Blagdon Lake.
